Killer Honey - Four artists with different musical backgrounds but with a shared musical ambition came together in November 2010 in Nijmegen. After a year of arranging and fine tuning, they embarked on their first public performances.
The songs of singer/songwriter Maxim Maas are a core component within the music of Killer Honey. His grabbing lyrics and vocal lines are powerfully underscored by the dynamic collective that is Killer Honey. Melodic baselines of bass player Cliff Koolman and the energetic beats of drummer Fred Sauvage provide for a free and assertive musical foundation. With Bas van Rijsewijk on synthesizer and samples, the quartet goes beyond the traditional rock band setting allowing for uniquely sounding songs.
Like how the taste of honey undeniably varies depending on its composition, the band sounds tormented in the dynamic “Because”, aggressive in the upbeat “Restless Mind”, energetic in the jumpy “Empathy Disintegrates”, spacial in “Tear the Wall Down” and progressive in the dub-pop song “Signs”.
Killer Honey delivers a dynamic, energetic and, at times, intimate set list in a uniquely sounding musical performance.
Sticky bittersweet popmusic!
